This reading is about cultural literacy in our society, it is talking about E.D. Hirsch' new book. It also talks about schools and how they should add diversity along with the nations culture to help people better understand the culture of their nation. I think that this was very true about our society because we do lack on knowing our culture and what happens in our culture. The schools should introduce more cultural literature into their classrooms because I believe it will make a difference

The second genre was also talking about E.D. Hirsch. It goes into if his books are helpful or they are not. They speak with a Harvard professor and he talks of how the book is helpful but they also realize that no one is taking Hirsch seriously. Though his idea are great he has little support from the schools. I liked this genre better I felt it was easier to understand and I knew what they were talking about as in the paper it was more about what his book content is.
